2024 Summer Teams
First week impression:
"It has been a very eventful and fruitful week. Regarding the work, we took up the drainage on the road, carving wooden connections for the heater (and similar), mowing, knitting, washing potatoes. Otherwise, we had a lot of other chores. First we had to get to know and connect (between ourselves and with ourselves), we also got to know our surroundings, we made mutual agreements, so everyone feels safe. We made a list of wishes and offers, which is very long, because we only have one month, we've already done quite a bit of it. There was a lot of music, fire and conversation in the free time."

Paula Popp, daily impressions:
"Barn update!
Today we found a hornet‘s nest and a tiny bird nest in one of the 200 year old original beams! Who knows what kind of tiny bird makes eggs this small? Any bird enthusiasts out there?
We as volunteers have been helping Peter rebuild the old barn. The original beams could be reused, and now we are slowly building the first level with new wood. For that, we use a buzz saw to cut the planks in the correct length and then screw the planks to the crossbeams. Sounds simple, but we’ve been learning by trial and error that in fact it needs a lot of skill and precision When it’s done, it will provide a lot of space for tools, a workshop, and open multipurpose space
Have you ever worked on a restoration project like that?!"
Ana Lucas:
"My last month was spent volunteering in the Mokovec Farm - a place led by an inspiring and passionate couple, who accepted us into their home and made us all feel like family. Prija and Peter are one of the best hosts I have ever had. I felt really comfortable to talk and have fun with them, they always look out for the volunteer's well being and have a loooot of knowledge to share.
And I'm especially thankfull for the group of people they brought together. Lisa's cuteness and the comfort she transmits, Lotta's amazing humor and weird sounds, Aliajz's smile, Servane's expressiveness, Raquel's kindness, Felicia's chillness, Joy's stare, Paula's clumsiness, Marko's laugh, Peter's patience and Prija's funny chaotic energy...everyone had something unique about them that I want to remember. I was sooo happy and felt so loved during this month; I honestly think I had never laughed as much as I did in 1 month as I did there.
We did so many things and there was so many iconic and funny moments that make me laugh so much when I think about them...Running in the rain carrying blankets before going to Maribor whilst Lotta packed them like an elf inside the car, Slug hunting, the trip to the lake, twerking in the Pizzeria, the belly dance workshop, panto mimic game, showering in the rain, the endless laughing with Lisa and Lotta, hitchicking trips alone and with Lisa, bread making, all the open space activities, slackline and trampoline play time, cherry picking, working on the barn, digging, the amazing view from the pool and bench, the questions' game, the little, but very cozy kitchen, the gossip weekend, the amazing waterfall, Prija jumping like a frog, Lisa climbing forest, Servane and Marko trying to escape the smoke, the space museum, the amazing views and nature Slovenia has to offer, the nights around the fire and in the yurt, the "I hit theee...", "in the beningining", "so goood", "tiramisúúú", "agaain", etc."
