2025 Spring Teams

In spring 2025 we host a small ESC group (10 young people) for 1 months .
A time of living close to nature, learning by doing, building together, community living, and slowing down. Gardening, natural building, embodiment practices, creativity, shared meals, and deep connections — an experience of belonging, growth, and community. “I felt truly at home at the farm and with the amazing people around me.” – Kiara

This month at Mokovec Farm was quite an experience! I applied for this ESC project because I wanted to expand my comfort zone and learn to reconnect with nature. And I succeeded!

Despite the nerves I had beforehand, Peter and Prija really managed to make me feel welcome and at home. There was a lot of space to reflect on how we felt during our stay and to share this with the group. I was able to experience nature much more intensely. By walking barefoot through the garden all day, feeling the earth and feeling the insects tickle my toes. The walk to the majestic waterfall also amazed me like a little child. One of the most beautiful moments of the day was the walk to the mountain top with Ellen in the evening to draw and make music for the sheep. I experienced working in the garden as healing and relaxing. The way Prija and Peter work together with nature in all aspects of their lives is very inspiring. Peters natural building projects have made me realize that I am stronger than I thought. From building a dry wall to cutting away rocks for a covered parking space for the tractor. The activities lead by Prija have helped me to get closer to myself and to accept myself more. The group has also contributed to this. Since the most exercises were in groups, you get to know each other quickly. The most beautiful conversations arise from this.

During the ‘open space’ workshops were given by the volunteers themselves. From a woodcarving workshop and intuitive painting to a ‘river of life’ session. In short, I have done a lot of new things this past month, I learned a lot and met many beautiful people. I was sometimes confronted with my own insecurities, but this also helped me to learn and grow as a person. I am very grateful for this experience! Big thanks to Prija, Peter and the group!

Chalulu: My time in Mokovec has been a deeply enriching learning experience for me. In the beginning of the month Prija facilitated many social permaculture and embodiment exercises to build a strong sense of trust and belonging in the group. It was very inspiring and wonderful to see how quickly the participants were opening up and how we started working together as a team. My focus was mostly on the garden because I wanted to deepen my knowledge about generative agriculture. The practice of weeding, mulching and putting our hands in the soil daily to plant and harvest veggies was grounding and a strong learning experience for all of us. The evenings and weekends were filled with walks in the forest, trips to the lake and the pride parade of Ljubljana, laughter, music and a lot of fun games. I leave Mokovec with an abundance of love and wonderful memories in my heart and I would recommend it to a anyone who wants to experience cultural emergence hands on.

Kiara: My time at Mokovec was an amazing and meaningful experience. For one month, we lived on a farm surrounded by beautiful hills of Slovenia. We worked together in the garden, focusing on natural building and permaculture and were supported by a lovely family with their playful 8-year-old daughter and their cute animals.

Together we cooked fresh meals in the outdoor kitchen with the food we grew, and outside of work, we created workshops like woodcarving, clay art, painting and somatic practices. Movement and physical well-being were also a big part of our daily rythm, from workouts, yoga and hikes to games of volleyball, badminton, and slacklining next to the trees.

I also had the chance to practice a bit of facilitating. I organized workshops about the river of life, ecstatic dance, and communication styles. It helped me grow a lot and feel more confident about myself in the role of a facilitator.

During this time, I had space to reflect, understand and express my boundaries, and learn to communicate more honestly and openly. I felt truly at home at the farm and with the amazing people around me. I learned a lot about myself, made strong connections, and felt very connected to nature.
